Mexico City, Mexico. October 12, 2020. – Through its labor inclusion strategy, FEMSA Comercio provides employment opportunities to people in vulnerable conditions. For this reason, 315 OXXO and OXXO GAS work centers were awarded the Gilberto Rincón Gallardo Inclusive Company Distinction, awarded by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. The acknowledgements awarded to these work centers are equivalent to 81% of those awarded nationally in the 2019 edition.
From 2005 to date 1,657 FEMSA Comercio work centers have been recognized for their good labor practices related to equal opportunities, inclusion, development and non-discrimination of people in vulnerable situations; all of this as part of its commitment to generate economic and social value.
“For us, people are the most important thing within our company, which is why it is our priority to promote an inclusive culture that recognizes and celebrates our diversity, and that allows all of our people to have a sense of belonging and to contribute their talent in an authentic and genuine way. We are an organization made up of thousands of collaborators, which is why we restate our commitment to create the conditions that allow us to be an increasingly inclusive and diverse team”, said Daniel RodrĂguez CofrĂ©, General Director of FEMSA Comercio.
Since 2001, FEMSA Comercio has promoted the hiring of the elderly and of people with disabilities in all its business divisions. Today they employ more than 930 people with disabilities and 3,200 elderly. Alongside UNHCR Mexico, recently the company promoted the inclusion of more than 200 refugees, so on October 6 FEMSA and its business units joined the Alianza Tent Partnership for Refugees, a non-profit organization created in 2016 with the purpose of promoting the inclusion of refugees in the workplace.
Another example of the actions carried out in this regard are the 11 OXXO Directed Labor Training Centers, which have training rooms that simulate the operation of stores to train people with disabilities for employment. Thus, the development and work potential of people with disabilities is promoted, inside and outside the organization.
As an employer in Mexico, FEMSA Comercio has the responsibility of carrying out actions that promote and create opportunities for decent employment, as well as promoting growth in equality for all people without distinction.
