We know that in order to achieve long-term prosperity and fulfill our mission of creating economic and social value, we must strive to achieve the professional and personal development of our collaborators; we want our work environment to motivate them and make them feel committed to our goals.
Our People are extremely important to us, which is why it is the first guiding axis in FEMSA’s Sustainability Strategy. In addition to contemplating the professional development of our collaborators, it also considers the tools and processes needed to empower them on a personal level, and thus promote their integral development
FEMSA is committed to being a high performing company in which talent and culture drive the development of our people. Our operations follow a principles-based approach to doing business; this means operating in ways that go beyond the fundamental responsibilities of safe and healthy working conditions also we respect and promote human and labor rights according to national and international laws, such as Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Labor Organization Declaration on Fundamental Principles.
Since 2019 we develop and carry out our Labor Risk Assessment, a tool that help us to identify possible risks and assesses their impact/probability of occurrence, with this we can respond and control the most significant threats and opportunities in topics related to respecting human rights such as discrimination and/or any workplace violence, working conditions, health and safety, freedom of association, and child and forced labor.
Culture and values
Every day we live the FEMSA culture through our behavior, work style and shared values, which identify us as a team and give meaning to what we do. It is also the guideline we follow to operate inside and outside our organization.
- Create economic and social value through companies and institutions.
- Be the best long-term owner, partner and operator of our businesses.
- Aspire to double the value of our business every five years.
- Be the leaders in our markets.
- Be the best employer and neighbor to the communities in which we operate
We live our commitment with a sense of belonging and responsibility in our actions, through our values, which are a crucial part of the organization, and which provide the foundation for the development of regulations on which our decisions are made and our actions are carried out with value.
- Integrity and respect
- Sense of responsibility
- Simplicity and attitude of service
- Passion for learning
The way our collaborators work reinforces and develops FEMSA’s distinctive capabilities and enables our strategy.
- Commitment to excellence
- Aptitude and willingness to collaborate
FEMSA is governed by a set of personal principles and precepts bequeathed by Don Eugenio Garza Sada, who based his philosophy of life on a transcendental phrase: “The respect for human dignity is above any economic consideration.” His ideas were embodied in 17 principles that represent the essence of the values that today are a fundamental part of FEMSA’s culture, known as the Cuauhtémoc Ideology.
Training and Development
Our collaborators are our competitive advantage to ensure sustainability as part of our Business Strategy. The talent and value that our people offer each day, make the fulfillment of our goals a reality. For this reason, it is important for us that within the organization, our collaborators find a place where they can develop and maximize their potential, aiming for each of them to transcend alongside FEMSA.
We firmly believe that the performance of our collaborators is closely linked to their personal and professional growth, which is why promote their training and development by providing them with the necessary tools to acquire and strengthen the skills and knowledge that allow us to cope with changing environments.
We are convinced that each of the people who work in the organization are responsible for the development of talent and that, as our Business Strategy states, it is essential to continue growing.
Through FEMSA University we promote a culture of self-development by offering our collaborators online and in-person courses, as well as other tools to strengthen their leadership skills and technical knowledge. We will continue to direct our efforts to the search for continuous improvement, so that our educational offer and learning experiences are appropriate for the development of our collaborators, who are the main boosters of our growth in 13 countries.
The safety and health of our collaborators is a priority for FEMSA. We are convinced that by improving their working conditions, we not only benefit them, their families and the communities that surround us, but we also strengthen our company. Today, we reaffirm our commitment to continue improving the safety of our collaborators with increasingly safe and healthy work centers.
The integral development and the improvement in the well-being and quality of life of FEMSA collaborators, make it possible for us to contribute to the creation of value. We promote the well-being and quality of life of our collaborators and their families, as well as their transcendence in the community.
We understand that collaborators’ development is promoted inside and outside the company, which is why we are continuously working on the implementation of FEMSA’s Social Development System, through which we serve five dimensions that help us achieve the integral development of Our People:
At FEMSA we create value for our collaborators, their families and the community. Through the FEMSA Volunteer Network, we implement actions focused on four lines of action: education and employability, health, environment, and community support and legality.
We believe that creating the conditions to improve the quality of life of our collaborators is a vital part of how we create social value. That is why we designed the Integral Quality of Life System, which, based on qualitative and quantitative diagnoses and information, allows us to have a broad overview of our progress in this area.
One of the main sources of information for this system is FEMSA’s Organizational Climate Diagnosis, which is carried out every two years in each of our work centers. This diagnosis measures our collaborator’s degree of satisfaction in their work, and helps us determine actions for improvement.
