Fundación Paz Es, A.B.P. recognizes the life and legacy of Eugenio Garza Lagüera

Monterrey, Nuevo León, México. May 24, 2023. –The institution Paz Es, A.B.P. presented a video dedicated to the life of Eugenio Garza Lagüera in order to publicize the leadership, work, dedication and legacy that he left for Nuevo León and for the country through companies and institutions.

“At FEMSA we feel very proud to be part of that legacy, and for this reason we are pleased that the organization has produced this material to share the life of Don Eugenio Garza Lagüera as an example, so that new generations are motivated to follow in his footsteps” said Erika de la Peña Ibarra, FEMSA’s Strategic Communications Manager.

The production of this video was part of the organization’s “Hazlo Regio” project, through which it seeks to recognize exemplary citizens who represent the values that make the population of Nuevo León proud, as well as promoting the development of the Monterrey culture.

“The values that make us different from people from Monterrey are within everyone’s reach. At ‘Hazlo Regio’ we seek to make them visible for all to replicate them from our work, and thus continue building a better society for all,” said Jorge Lozano, director of Paz Es.

It is worth mentioning that Paz Es, A.B.P. is a civil society organization that seeks to promote positive actions that promote peace and citizen participation in Nuevo León.

Monterrey legacy

Eugenio Garza Lagüera began his professional career in January 1947 as a chemist in the Research Department of Cervecería Cuauhtémoc. After several years of hard work and accumulated experience, he became Chairman of the Board of Directors of FEMSA, then VISA, on April 29, 1969.

During his tenure as director of Cervecería Cuauhtémoc and FEMSA, the company achieved a relevant role nationally and internationally. He made large investments in human resources, infrastructure, technology and distribution networks, which generated economic and social value, and today they are palpable in the nine countries where the company has operations.

Eugenio Garza also participated as a member of the Council for different national and international companies such as Bank of Mexico, National Bank of Commerce, Wells Fargo Bank, Southwest Research Institute and El Paso Corporation.

From 1960 to 1982 he was president of the Financial Administration Council of Crédito de Monterrey; of Banca Serfín from 1973 to 1982, and of Bancomer, S.A. from 1991 to September 1999.

His creative talent, his ability to generate value even in the face of adversity, his iron will, incomparable leadership and simplicity, were reflected in his business, social and humanist work, through great works.

Eugenio Garza Lagüera passed away on May 24, 2008, always being a man of firm convictions and strong will, honest and tenacious.
