For the third consecutive year, Coca-Cola FEMSA is recognized for its promotion of healthy lifestyles

Mexico City, June 19, 2019.- During the V Meeting of the Food and Beverage Sector, organized by IPADE and IESE, Coca-Cola FEMSA received the “Gold Award” recognition thanks to its commitment to promote healthy lifestyles among its employees and community through physical activity and a balanced diet.

To obtain this distinction, the organization participated in the “Active and Healthy Company” challenge, an initiative promoted by QUEMA and MOVISA, through which different activities were implemented, among which are ‘Swimming for my heart’, Walk your marathon and Conquer your sum, which promote healthy competition and coexistence.

To obtain the annual recognition of “Active and Healthy Company”, companies must demonstrate actions in four areas: a) promotion of health, b) measurement of body mass index and physical condition index, c) infrastructure, and d) permanent program of physical activity.

“We believe that the balance between work and a healthy lifestyle can increase productivity and personal and professional motivation, as well as reduce work absenteeism and avoid long-term chronic degenerative diseases”, said José Ramón Martínez, Director of Corporate Affairs at Coca-Cola FEMSA.

We Want Active Mexicans (QUEMA in Spanish) is a nonprofit civil society organization, which aims to promote physical activity among Mexicans to reverse the effects of sedentary lifestyle, prevent disease and preserve health.

“Since the first edition of the challenge in 2015, we have found a way to intervene in companies so that employees can know that the practice of physical activity is essential to enjoy health. It also helps them to create awareness about how sedentary life and lack of follow-up to their health have a direct impact in their quality of life and work productivity”, said Mariel Hawley, Executive President of QUEMA.

“Each time, more and more companies understand that the promotion of healthy lifestyles is a win-win situation. Not only do they have more happy, motivated and productive collaborators, but families with greater well-being as well”, said Alejandro Malagón Barragán, President of MOVISA.

An active and healthy society promotes a better environment, join the cause.
