  • OXXO, OXXO GAS and FEMSA Foundation gave resources to improve the spaces of the Clouthier Park.
  • The contribution allowed the provision of children’s games in the new area for early childhood and a general rehabilitation of the place.

Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, México. July 8, 2021. – In order to offer more and better green spaces to the population of Nuevo Leon, OXXO, OXXO GAS and FEMSA Foundation contributed $2 million pesos for the remodeling of Clouthier Park, located in the municipality of San Pedro Garza García.

The inauguration ceremony was held this Wednesday and was led by San Pedro’s mayor Miguel Treviño, who thanked FEMSA for its contribution to allow the fitting of children’s games and a general rehabilitation of the place.

At the event, Carlos García Montemayor, OXXO Plaza Monterrey Manager, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to promote sport and carry out actions regarding the recovery of public spaces and environmental care, and said: “At OXXO, OXXO GAS and FEMSA Foundation we are committed to participating in projects that improve the quality of life of the Nuevo Leon’s population. We have the firm conviction of serving as good neighbors in the communities where we operate; to have them see us as an ally that creates benefits for society, and to have them know that our main interest is to promote their development and positive transformation”.

The event was also attended by Emilio González Guerra, Monterrey Poniente Operations Manager and Juan Carlos Díaz, Head of Management, both from OXXO GAS.

With the renovation of the Clouthier Park, the residents of the surrounding communities will be able to enjoy attractive and safe spaces, such as a new early childhood play area located in a sheltered area shaded by trees, so that families can have a safe and quiet space that encourages play and quality time. This work is part of San Pedro Garza García municipality’s ‘Emblematic Parks’ project, through which accessible public spaces have been created for everyone, from babies to the elderly.

As part of its sustainability strategy, FEMSA and its Business Units invest in various programs aimed at improving social and economic conditions in the communities where they are present. FEMSA Foundation focuses its efforts on three areas of action: efficient management of resources for sustainable development, the dissemination of Latin American art and culture, and the comprehensive development of early childhood.

An example of this is the exhibition “We walk imagining other worlds”, a project that seeks to give visibility to people who coexist in the same space, raising awareness to the fact that there are more things that unite us than it seems. This exhibition is a collaborative work between FEMSA Foundation, FEMSA Collection, DistritoTec and Laboratorio Arte AC, which will be at the Galería Abierta Distrito Tec until next September, located on Av. Fernando García Roel (between Garza Sada and Junco de la Vega), in Monterrey.
