Ciudad del Carmen, Campeche, August 22nd, 2018.- With the purpose of promoting the professional development and employment inclusion of people with disabilities in Mexico, OXXO Plaza Villahermosa, alongside Campeche’s DIF system, announced the opening of its new OXXO Directed Labor Training Center in Ciudad del Carmen.
With this project, OXXO seeks to multiply opportunities for people with disabilities, providing job training tools during three months of training in rooms that simulate the operation of a real store.
“In OXXO we want to promote an inclusive culture, and although there is still much to be done, we are committed to continue working together to build an environment of better opportunities, eliminating the obstacles some people in vulnerable situations are forced to face”, said Human Resources Manager of OXXO Plaza Villahermosa, Oscar Mijangos.
The first generation will consist of ten students. Once the students complete their training successfully, they will be awarded a certificate that will support the experience acquired, which will also facilitate their participation in any other retail store.
“The work carried out alongside the Secretary of Education, the Secretary of Labor and Social Welfare of the State and OXXO, has allowed greater openness in the spaces of socially inclusive companies. OXXO’s Directed Labor Training Centers are a clear example of this synergy”, said Campeche’s Head of the Secretary of Labor and Social Welfare, Dr. Jorge RadamĂ©s Romero Bock.
The new Directed Labor Training Center in Ciudad del Carmen is the second one enabled in OXXO Plaza Villahermosa’s area. In total, the company has seven centers nationwide, located in Monterrey, Campeche, Cancun, Hermosillo, Merida, Villahermosa and now Ciudad del Carmen.
Nowadays, thanks to its labor inclusion initiative implemented since 2001, which has also allowed to boost the talent of the elderly, OXXO and its collaborators create an environment of respect and teamwork for a total of 666 workers with disabilities.
As a result of the combined efforts with institutions such as DIF, OXXO supports its collaborators to work towards their goals and boosts their potential within an equitable work environment.
