OXXO Customers Collect more than 500,000 pesos for Child Development in Cozumel

Cozumel, Quintana Roo, June 3, 2019.- OXXO delivered $537,941.89 Mexican pesos to the Cozumel Community Foundation, in an event held last Friday morning at the facilities of the association. This amount was collected thanks to the contributions of its customers, who participated in the OXXO Customers Rounding Program during the March-April 2019 period.

“Through the OXXO Customers Rounding Program, we seek to be a means for our clients to support institutions in their community. Initiatives like this help us to continue with our commitment to create economic and social value in the communities where we have presence and to be an agent of change by contributing to the construction of a more conscious and supportive society to those in need, in a transparent manner”, said Juan de Vere, Manager of OXXO Plaza CancĂșn.

The Cozumel Community Foundation seeks to contribute to social causes that promote development and raise the quality of life of the community of Cozumel. The resources from the rounding program will be allocated to the installation and equipment of a mobile playroom that will help strengthen the skills of children – aged 6 to 12 – in vulnerable conditions in the municipality of Cozumel. The playroom may also be transferred to other communities of the state of Quintana Roo.

“We are very grateful to the OXXO clients for having generously contributed to help our institution. With the valuable support that they gave us, we will be able to enable a mobile playroom for children to develop their skills, imagination and creativity. This type of initiatives strengthen the social fabric of our community through the practice of values and the strengthening of human rights, gender equality and local traditions. We estimate that more than 1,500 girls and boys will be able to use this playroom annually”, explained Octavio Rivero, General Director of the Cozumel Community Foundation.

The OXXO Customers Rounding Program was born in 2002 with the purpose of being a solidary link between customers and local institutions that serve people in vulnerable conditions, as well as with associations that work with ecological, educational and social initiatives. During 2018, OXXO Plaza CancĂșn delivered more than 2.5 million pesos distributed to 6 institutions in Quintana Roo, benefiting more than 2,230 people thanks to donations from our customers.
