Monterrey, Nuevo León, September 28th, 2015.– Through its Volunteer Network, FEMSA participated in a reforestation activity in the Cumbres of Monterrey National Park. This is the third time the network joins this reforestation initiative led by Pronatura Noreste and US Consulate in Monterrey.
On Saturday morning, a group of 369 volunteers composed of FEMSA, FEMSA Logística, PTM, FEMSA Comercio and Jugos del Valle employees and their families, visited an area of the Cumbres of Monterrey National Park, located in the municipality of Santiago, Nuevo León, to help with the reforestation of an area affected by the erosion, which they pretend to rescue by planting four thousand white pine trees, which were cultivated by a local cooperative of women of the Laguna de Sánchez.
FEMSA’s Volunteer Network is made up of employees of all FEMSA’s Business Units, who have the vocation to support initiatives that have a positive impact on the community, as well as actions to preserve and improve the environment, giving out their time selflessly.
“Within FEMSA’s Social Development System, the social dimension promotes the development in our employees and their families as responsible citizens committed to their community, the society and the environment. FEMSA’s Business Units reaffirm their social commitment by integrating the FEMSA’s Volunteer Network, together with our employees and retirees, their families, friends and suppliers. The fundamental element that distinguishes this network is the solidarity of its members and the fact that they give out their time generously”, said FEMSA’s Head of Social Development, Adriana Arévalo.
This reforestation activity responds to FEMSA’s Volunteer Network’s environmental line of action, which contributes to the care and sustainable development of the communities where the company operates, with actions aimed at the reforestation of green areas, cleaning of water bodies, recycling of waste, and any action of preservation and improvement of the environment.
Pronatura Noreste, A.C. focuses its efforts to restore priority ecosystems of our country, fighting climate change, and generating important environmental services, such as water harvesting and conservation of the biodiversity.
