Sustainability at FEMSA
Throughout its history, FEMSA has been able to face environmental and social challenges present in the countries where it operates. Today, with the progress of this strategy, it has seized the opportunities presented by the transition to a green and low-carbon economy.
An example of this is that, during the second quarter, it issued a Sustainability Linked Bond for € 700 million in senior notes maturing in 2028 and more than € 500 million in senior notes maturing in 2033, being the first of its kind in Mexico and the highest bond for a Latin American company. On the other hand, during 2020 Coca-Cola FEMSA issued the first Green Bond for 705 million dollars. These bonds will be used to develop projects in Circular Economy, Climate Change, among others.
To FEMSA, sustainability is the ability to create the social, environmental and economic conditions to operate in the present and to continue growing in harmony with the environment and society. With this update of our Sustainability Strategy, we are now leading the way to transformation.
As a result of the work done over the years in terms of sustainability, FEMSA is currently part of Dow Jones Sustainability MILA Pacific Alliance Index, the FTSE4Good Emerging Index and the S&P/BMV Total Mexico ESG Index, among other indices that evaluate and recognize its performance in sustainability.
