FEMSA Logistics Leads the Way toward a Responsible Road Culture

México D.F., October 5, 2015.– The integrity and safety of its employees, as well as of the public in general, has been the focus of the philosophy FEMSA Logistics has implemented for more than 15 years. The National Award of Road Safety that the National Association of Private Transportation has given to more than 40 operators, is recognition of the commitment the company and its collaborators have on promoting a road culture of zero accidents.

“Throughout 10 years, 288 collaborators have been recognized by the private transportation authorities, as a result of the processes FEMSA Logistics has implemented through strategies that seek to reduce road accidents through safe operating procedures, clear policies and ongoing training in technical, operational, road safety, health, values and human development matters”, said Mexico Operations’ Director, Ramiro Delgado Aldrete. 

FEMSA Logistics’ story is long and is a case that exemplifies the effort the company gives to every operational detail, focusing on the welfare of its collaborators. 

The story of Jorge Mardoqueo García Martínez, from Tek Diesel Operation in Orizaba, Veracruz, began in 1989, when he joined the company. A native of Nogales, Veracruz, Jorge has said that if he had not been an operator, he would have liked to be a doctor. His 25 years as a carrier, in which he has not suffer a single traffic accident, comes a bit close to that dream because, at the end of the day, his responsibility and commitment at work is reflected at caring and play special attention to the people. 

This 25 years have been of constant learning, but above all, of great satisfaction. Just as Jorge describes it, he attributes his success to being aware of what he is doing, showing up to work in the best conditions as possible, carefully checking the equipment, and, most importantly, always considering the citizens and environment in which he is operating.

Jorge has said that FEMSA Logistics’ guide has helped him both professionally and personally due to the fact that he is constantly in training and its courses help him to be a better person. The communication and support he has received these years have been a key factor to making each trip a success. 

“Family has always been my engine to give the best of me. The support I have received from FEMSA Logistics have been a key factor for doing my work under the best conditions, which has allowed me to focus on my unit and the people surrounding me. The responsibility one has when doing this job reflects in the love I have for the profession; that is what the company has taught us, and being part of this team will always be one of the greatest satisfactions in my life”, said FEMSA Logistics’ operator, Jorge Mardoqueo García Martínez.  

Despite the clear recognition Jorge has from his bosses and colleagues, he keeps humble; his philosophy is simple, but solid: be responsible and take affection for what you do. He transmits that philosophy to other operators, to whom he suggests to always study and plan each trip according to stops, rest breaks, food breaks, etc.; fill out the required forms; check their units to be in perfect conditions; and, at all times, care for the people who surround him while operating.
