ChildTech Challenge’s Startup Winner will Help Protect the Rights of Children in Chile

FEMSA

  • BRAVE UP! won the challenge created by Impactus Ventures to develop a technological project that helps protect the rights of children and adolescents in Chile through Fundación Para la Confianza.

Santiago de Chile, Chile. October 19, 2021. – Various studies have shown that the physical and psychological well-being of children and adolescents is essential for them to reach their full potential. Therefore, various entities, both public and private, have begun to invest in its care and protection. This is not only because it improves their quality of life, but also because it benefits society in general, as it drives economic growth in the long term.

“This virtuous circle has caused a number of startups worldwide to develop childtech with social impact. This means that there is an interest in creating this type of technology, and also in investing in projects that create social impact through innovative solutions. This is why at Impactus Ventures we wanted to strengthen the link between both worlds and become a bridge for social innovation”, said Ignacia Donoso, Project Director at Impactus Ventures.

It is for this reason that they created a global initiative called ChildTech Challenge, which aims to stimulate innovation and positively impact the development of children in Latin America. In this first version, four institutions reached the final stage and the winner of the contest in the category “Protection and mental health” was BRAVE UP, who in addition to obtaining a prize of USD $30,000, will carry out its project in partnership with Fundación Para la Confianza. This organization turned out to be a pioneer in Latin America and is very happy to have achieved this triumph.

“We have been working in school harmony for years, and we are very happy to have received this award because it motivates us to continue promoting the care of children in Latin America. We will implement the use of our platform in different educational communities, where we will deliver relevant data and activate the BRAVE UP Mode!, where students who are victims and witnesses of violence will be able to report it; a year later we will measure the impact this type of technology had”, said Álvaro Carrasco, Founder of Brave Up!

This call was created by Impactus Ventures in alliance with FEMSA Foundation, Amalfi investment company, IDB Lab and Mustakis Foundation +Global. The solutions will be implemented in Chile as the first stage, with the idea of scaling them to other countries in the region so that children and adolescents can have better opportunities, fulfill their dreams and reach their maximum potential.
