Mexico City, Mexico. October 12th, 2020. – The XIV FEMSA Biennial, titled Inestimable chance, which has been presented since February 2020 in the cities of Morelia and Patzcuaro in the state of Michoacan, announced exhibitions with staggered openings from October 15th to December 10th, 2020. The exhibitions are part of the Curatorial Program of the XIV edition of the Biennial which, seven months after opening, continues generation dynamics to revisit the modern heritage of Morelia and Patzcuaro, especially the public art of renowned national and international artists such as Grace and Marion Greenwood, Philip Guston, Juan O´Gorman and Alfredo Zalce. As the artistic world has faced trascendental challenges due to the COVID-19 sanitary emergency, FEMSA’s Biennial has reiterated its function as detonator of collaboration networks at local and regional level through the organization of forums with universities, museums, and independent cultural projects that build sustainable relationships, not only with artists and participating projects, but also with initiatives and communities of Michoacan. With a first encounter executed in person and a second phase carried out in digital platforms, the Public and Pedagogical Programs of the Biennial have reunited more than 45 thousand people in a total of 50 events, among conferences, workshops and seminars, in collaboration with specialists and local, national and international organizations, as well as the federal Secretary of Culture, the Secretary of Culture of the State of Michoacan, the City Councils of Morelia and Patzcuaro, the state representations of FEMSA and other private organizations.

In the Biennial’s Artistic Director Daniel Garza Usabiaga’s words: “As we know, this edition has been extraordinary due to the moment that we are living at an international level. Though we have worked in a couple of editions in reinventing the model of the Biennial since we implemented the change of format to an itinerant curatorial event, the sanitary contingency is a milestone that has allowed us to emphasize our goal of promoting bonding and empathy spaces without losing sight of the needs of all the people that make this event possible.”

The staggered openings of the exhibit program of Inestimable chance are present in Morelia and Patzcuaro since October 15th along with a curatorial program that contributes to the reconfiguration of the biennials in a way never before seen in Mexico
