Bogotá, Colombia. May 10, 2021. – Solistica, a FEMSA company, developed MEGA FREEZE, a new and one of the largest in Colombia center for the pharmaceutical products’ cold chain, with the purpose of bringing logistics services closer to the pharmaceutical industry so that the population in Colombia can get medications on time and in the best conditions.
MEGA FREEZE added an additional 10,500 m3 of space to the capacities, reaching more than 20,000 m3 of spaces fully certified by the Colombian Ministry of Health and the National Institute for Food and Drug Surveillance (INVIMA). The center also integrates in the same place the storage, conditioning and transport services of the cold chain, which streamlines the processes to provide a faster solution to any emergency.
The center, located in the industrial zone of Montevideo and close to the airport, operates 24 hours a day/seven days a week, and currently has more than 280 receivers, more than 3,600 pallet positions and 44 thousand gels to supply more than 12 thousand delivery points, with better response times.
The facilities comply with all the standards in the handling of pharmaceutical products, which allow clients in this sector a comprehensive control of their products, streamline the flow of their operations and maintain the entire cold chain in perfect temperature conditions: the appropriate temperature conditions from 2°C to 8°C can be controlled and validated throughout the whole service in the processes of storage, transport, conditioning, management of supplies and packaging.
An example of this is the service offered for marking, labeling, packaging and assembly of orders in controlled temperature spaces to keep the cold chain of pharmaceutical products in perfect condition. Likewise, Solistica offers the transportation service with a refrigerated and qualified fleet that allows products to be delivered on time and within its validity, keeping temperatures within safe ranges to avoid expiration dates.
Solistica has 9 distribution centers spread throughout Colombia, which reduce the response time to respond more quickly to emergencies in the country. MEGA FREEZE is an example of Solistica’s focus on security, innovation and flexibility to adapt to the needs of its customers and design the ideal configuration to solve all kinds of logistics challenges in any industry.
