- The IDB-FEMSA 2021 Award for innovation in water, sanitation and solid waste gives up to US $ 10,000 to three winners.
Mexico City, Mexico. October 11, 2021. – The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and FEMSA Foundation announced the opening of the IDB-FEMSA 2021 Award, which since 2009 has recognized the most innovative solutions in the water, sanitation and solid waste management sectors.
This year, the BID-FEMSA Award will be held virtually through the site www.premiobidfemsa.com. In this edition, it will grant a stimulus of US $ 10,000 to each of the winners of the three categories: Water Category, Sanitation Category and Solid Waste Category.
Each year the IDB-FEMSA Award, awarded by IDB’s and FEMSA Foundation’s water and sanitation division, recognizes the most innovative solutions with proven results to overcome deficiencies and challenges in the water, sanitation and solid waste management sectors.
The profiles that can participate are enterprises or organizations that have been implementing and executing innovative solutions for a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of six years from the moment of the award’s call.
The call is open from September 6 to October 24, 2021. The rules and bases of the contest and the electronic application form are available on BID-FEMSA 2021 Award’s official website, www.premiobidfemsa.com, in Spanish, English and Portuguese. The organizations and/or entrepreneurs that wish to apply can present their solution in IDB’s four official languages (English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French) and refer their queries to agua@iadb.org. Updates on this call will be made through the Water and Sanitation Division’s blog Volvamos a la Fuente.
An initial jury made up of experts from the water and sanitation sector will select a maximum of nine (9) candidate solutions as finalists, which will be invited to participate in the final stretch to compete for first place in each award category. The selected finalists will compete by presenting their solution in a “pitch by fire” format of a maximum of 2 minutes before a final jury made up of experts and industry leaders worldwide, who will choose the three winners. The Prize will be presented in a live virtual ceremony in March 2022.
