FEMSA’s XIV Biennial continues with online contents

  • The Biennial postpones in person activities of the Public and Pedagogical Programs until further notice.
  • The Biennial continues with online contents generated in collaboration with artists, managers, organizers and guests of diverse disciplines.

Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico. April 13th, 2020.– FEMSA’s XIV Biennial, titled Inestimable chance, which will take place from February 2020 to February 2021 in the cities of Morelia and Patzcuaro in the state of Michoacan, postpones in person activities of the public and pedagogical programs and continues with online contents through social media.

Following the events of last February, FEMSA’s XIV Biennial continues generating contents on line which, according to the title of this edition, revisit the modern heritage of Morelia and Patzcuaro, especially the public art of renowned national and international artists like Grace and Marion Greenwood, Philip Guston, Juan O’Gorman and Alfredo Zalce.

The materials that FEMSA’s Biennial will share from April 15th, 2020 are designed to show a unique view of pedagogical and artistic contents that promote the active participation of diverse groups, reaffirming the function of the Biennial as a detonator of collaboration networks at local and regional levels.

Open to the entire public, the themes to explore are focused on artistic and cultural initiatives with social and community impact, through video clips generated by guest artists, curators and managers of diverse disciplines; digital materials of free use such as videos, articles and audios developed by artists and managers who voluntarily wish to join the program, as well as contents of allies like the Culture Secretariat of Michoacan, museums, galleries and other cultural organisms.

Additionally, on Wednesday April 29th, at 4:00 p.m., the virtual session called “Exposition strategies in Internet” by Gabriela Cepeda, art critic, writer and curator and Canek Zapata, artist and editor, will be offered to the persons previously selected in the pedagogic program and extensive to all public, with the objective of tackling the role of the Internet in the area of cultural management.

Rosa Maria Rodriguez Garza, Manager of FEMSA’s Cultural Program, commented: “We are pleased to offer alternate channels to give visibility to the work of the members of the local artistic community of Michoacan. Even if it is not possible to replace the experience of seeing each other in person, dialoguing and reflecting together, we trust that these contents will be valuable and will help us face, the challenges of our current situation through art. We hope to soon be able to resume in person activities of FEMSA’s Biennial “.
