Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. April 29th, 2020.– FEMSA Foundation created the manual for parents “Practical Advice to Play and Live together at Home”, as well as the blog “#JuntosEnCasa: consejos en respuesta al COVID-19” (#TogetherAtHome: Advice in Response to COVID-19”), with recommendations and practical activities for parents and children to keep a life balance while staying at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The current situation requires of practical measures to maintain balance at home and continue progressing as a family. Collective measures are also necessary to be able to emerge as resilient communities. These materials are initiatives of FEMSA Foundation as a response to COVID-19 to accompany everyone and give them useful tools, whether they are working from home or going to their workplaces, personally caring for their children or supported by a carer.

The manual “Practical Advice to Play and Live together at Home” is a guide to be at home in an organized way, with more than 20 activities that spark the development of children and also favor a moment of amusement and rest for parents. In it general recommendations are included such as establishing routines with children, accept and talk about emotions and organize the home environment by assigning spaces for work, play and relaxation. Amongst the contents of the manual there are links to videos of ¡Listos a Jugar! (Ready to play!) to enjoy and learn with the adventures of Sesame Street’s characters. The manual also includes activities of Jugando en Colectivo (Playing together) developed with the Collective Early Childhood, of which FEMSA Foundation is part along with Cinepolis Foundation, LEGO Foundation, Televisa Foundation and CMR Foundation.

Meanwhile, the blog “#JuntosEnCasa: consejos en respuesta al COVID-19” (#TogetherAtHome: Advice in Response to COVID-19”) is a collection of more than 40 useful tools and contents of relevant subjects to face the current situation, such as hygiene practices focused on washing hands, activities to accompany parents in the process of working from home while they take care of their children and methods to be present and take advantage of time to the fullest. This blog is evolving and every week new contents can be found.

The manual for parents and the blog #TogetherAtHome are part of the initiatives that FEMSA Foundation is developing in response to the pandemic of COVID-19, aiming to promote the creation of sustainable communities. In 2019, FEMSA Foundation benefitted more than 35 million people directly and indirectly in 294 communities of Latin America through its action axes: Sustainable Development, Early Childhood Development and FEMSA’s Cultural Program.
