PTM habilitated an exclusive line to manufacture protective facemasks against COVID-19

San Juan del Rio, Queretaro, Mexico. May 13th, 2020. – Facing the sanitary emergency due to COVID-19, PTM, a company of plastic transformation of FEMSA’s Strategic Businesses, modified its operations for the creation of an exclusive production line of protective facemasks.

A part of the production of this facemasks will be integrated to the 400,000 kits that will be donated to the protection of medical personnel and nursery of the healthcare sector as part of the project #ContagiaSolidaridad (#InfectSolidarity), in which FEMSA Foundation, Santander, Soriana, Coppel, Televisa Foundation and OXXO participate.

“These are moments of unity and collaboration to confront the health challenge that COVID-19 represents. This is why, with the adaptation of the production line for the development and production of protective facemasks, we join the efforts of the healthcare personnel and organizations that must continue operating. In PTM, health and security are our priorities and we have taken steps that allow us to support in the protection and security of the people and the environment of our communities”, said Juan Pablo Valdes Abramo, PTM’s General Director.

The facemasks are manufactured with PET, which makes them 100% recyclable and environment-friendly. Additionally, its fabrication process is through computer numerical control (CNC) and the personnel that handle the products use protection equipment to avoid direct contact with the material, which fulfills the sanitary guidelines. The facemasks are easily assembled and have practical cleaning methods, since they can be put together in approximately 2 minutes following a simple instructive.

A part of the production is destined to customers of the healthcare sector such as IMSS and ISSSTE, and filial companies such as Torrey to protect their employees, who continue operating. Another part will be commercialized in stores such as Cooking Depot and Farmacias YZA, for users of the food industry, with one of the most economic prices in the country.
