OXXO and HSBC Mexico join forces to expand their banking services

Mexico City, Mexico, January 8th, 2016.– Retail chain OXXO announced an agreement with HSBC Mexico, S.A. bank, to become their new banking correspondent and allow their account holders to do credit card payments and bank deposits transactions at any of the 13,500 OXXO existing stores in Mexico.

With this alliance, there are seven banks that offer these services
throughout OXXO stores today: Bancomer, Banamex, Scotiabank, Santander, Compartamos Banco, Inbursa and HSBC, which allows them to generate social impact in communities by providing basic financial services to a larger number of users.

“As part of OXXO’s mission to offer their customers a wide range of products and services, we have
strengthened our value proposition by adding a new bank to our operations. With this inclusion we satisfy our customers’ needs to conduct banking transactions in less time, in a simpler way, closer to their homes, and with extended opening hours”, said Head of OXXO Financial Services, Asensio Carrión.

Service is available since January 18th. Deposit transactions will be reflected immediately, while credit card payments will be reflected 48 hours later, but with the date on which the transaction occurred. OXXO serves as an intermediary by having its system connected directly to the banks network. Users will be able to do operations of a maximum of $5,000.00 Mexican pesos, and with a $20,000.00 Mexican pesos daily limited amount per user.

To carry out each these operations, account holders will only need to provide the 16 digits of their cards; showing it won’t be necessary. The service fee is of $9.00 Mexican pesos per transaction, the same rate that applies to all banks within the OXXO stores. The same goes for service hours: from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday to Sunday.

With this, OXXO reaffirms its commitment to meet their customers’ needs, whether from thirst, hunger, cravings, services payment or bank transactions, with the aim of optimizing their time and simplifying their lives by allowing them to do different operations in the same place.
