More Than a Thousand Runners Got Moving at the 2nd FEMSA Race in León

Leon, Guanajuato, October 31st, 2016. – Celebrating the Day of the Dead, FEMSA Comercio and Coca-Cola FEMSA joined efforts to carry out the second edition of FEMSA’s Race “Run: Leave your Fears Behind”, in which more than a thousand people participated in the 10km, 5km and children categories.

This is the first time the Children Category is included in the race, and it was done so that the children of the community could also enjoy this activity.

FEMSA Race “Run: Leave your Fears Behind” was carried out thanks to the support of all FEMSA companies in the entity, such as OXXO, BARA, OXXO Gas, OXXO’s Distribution Centers (CEDIS) and Coca-Cola FEMSA, to contribute to the integral development and quality of life of its employees, as well as the community, through the promotion of healthy lifestyles.

“More than a thousand people saw how fun and simple running can be, so we hope that more people in our community get inspired and acquire healthy habits”, said OXXO CEDIS’ Head of Human Resources, Alma Patricia Becerra Valtierra.

“Through this sporting event, we want to promote sport, healthy recreational activities and health care”, said Coca-Cola FEMSA León’s Head of Human Resources, Palemón Hernández Mena.

Miguel Ángel Durán Calvillo, Head of Human Resources at BARA León, said: “It is very gratifying for us to see our employees, their families and the community having fun in an event that has a double purpose: apart from having a positive impact in people’s health, it contributes to preserve our traditions, like the Day of the Dead”.

The awards ceremony took place on the Expiatory Temple Esplanade at the end of the race, where the first three places in each category were awarded.
