Monterrey, Mexico. December 1, 2014. — FEMSA Comercio, S.A. de C.V. ("FEMSA Comercio") announced today that its subsidiary, Cadena Comercial de Farmacias, S.A.P.I. de C.V., has reached an agreement to acquire the chainFarmacias Farmacón, which operates drugstores in the states ofSinaloa, Sonora, Baja California, and Baja California Sur. This transaction is an important step in FEMSA Comercio's strategy to establish itself as a relevant competitor in this attractive small-box retail segment.
With headquarters in the city of Culiacán, in the state ofSinaloa, Farmacias Farmacón currently manages more than two hundred stores.
This transaction is awaiting for the approval by corresponding authorities and it is expected to be finalized by the firstquarter of 2015.
