México D.F., December 9, 2015.– FEMSA and Luis Barragan House and Studio signed an agreement to carry out a cultural program called FEMSA – Luis Barragan House and Studio Stay, which will start early next year.
This agreement will consist in a collaboration from FEMSA so that different projects can be carried out inside Luis Barragan House and Studio throughout a year. These activities will be led by Eugenia Braniff and Patrick Charpenel (curator, critic and key author in the panorama of contemporary Mexican art) to be displayed within this cultural space.
Luis Barragan House and Studio’s Director, Catalina Corcuera; President of the Committee for the Development of FEMSA Collection, Bárbara Garza Lagüera; FEMSA’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Genaro Borrego Estrada; FEMSA Cultural Program Manager, Rosa María Rodríguez Garza; and the curators of the program: Eugenia Braniff and Patrick Charpenel, were some of the people that attended the event.
“It is extremely important for FEMSA to be part of this initiative that will certainly enrich the cultural offerings in Mexico City. We are confident that FEMSA – Luis Barragan House and Studio Stay will allow a dialogue between curators, artists and the attendees about the production and the legacy of this Mexican icon of contemporary architecture”, said FEMSA’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Genaro Borrego Estrada.
“We are excited by this proposal curated by Eugenia Braniff and Patrick Charpenel, who are integrating a solid program of exhibitions and cultural activities for FEMSA – Luis Barragan House and Studio Stay, which will begin in February 2016”, said FEMSA Cultural Program Manager, Rosa Maria Rodriguez Garza.

Thus, we reaffirm our interest in sharing the work of Barragan with new audiences through an interesting series of exhibitions and artistic events which reflect about architecture and its close relationship with art”, said Director of Casa Luis Barragan, Catalina Corcuera.
“FEMSA – Luis Barragan House and Studio Stay is a pilot project that combines the vision and interests of the prestigious FEMSA Cultural Program and the recognized Luis Barragán Foundation of Guadalajara Architecture, institutions committed to the development of art in Mexico”, said Eugenia Braniff.
Patrick Charpenel explained “This initiative has the house of the famous architect as its main element to carry out a series of cultural activities that open a reflection about our world, reflect about the spirit of our time and echo the creative sensibility of Barragan”.
Among the attendees there were several cultural figures, such as member of the Foundation of Architects from Guadalajara, Juan Palomar Verea; Tamayo Museum Director, Juan Gaitán; University Museum of Contemporary Art Director (MUAC), Graciela de la Torre; Casa de la Bola Director, Lourdes Monges. On behalf of FEMSA, Coca-Cola FEMSA Cultural Affairs Director, Francisco Suarez; FEMSA Communication Director, Mauricio Reyes; and Head of Public Relations, Luis Quirós, were also present.
With eight activities per year, FEMSA – Luis Barragan House and Studio Stay will be positioned as one of the most demanding and professional stays of the country, exhibiting its project within the splendid spaces of this Mexican-style building.

Luis Barragan House and Studio
Built in 1948, Luis Barragan House and Studio represents one of the most trascendental contemporary architectural works in the international context, as recognized by UNESCO by including it in its 2004 list of World Heritage. It is the only property in Latin America that has achieved such distinction. The house has been preserved faithfully just as inhabited by its author. Today, it is owned by the Government of the State of Jalisco and the Architecture Foundation Tapatía Luis Barragan.
