Pachuca de Soto, Mexico, April 1, 2015. – FEMSA Collection presents 42 works of Latin American artists in the exhibit Latin America/ Plastic Diversity. FEMSA Collection, which opened on Tuesday March 31 at 6:30 PM at El Cuartel del Arte; the exhibition will remain open to the public until June 28, 2015.
The exhibit takes place thanks to the efforts made by the Government of the State of Hidalgo, through the State Council for Culture and Arts of Hidalgo (Cecultah), and FEMSA, with the support of OXXO.
It consists of works created by artists from Argentina, Colombia, Cuba, Guatemala, Mexico, Uruguay, and Venezuela in addition to artists from Canada, Spain, England, and Italy residing in Mexico.
The exhibit contains diverse techniques such as drawing, sculpture, graphic, photography, and painting.
It includes self-portraits of Roberto Montenegro, Rufino Tamayo, and Juan Soriano, as well as abstract works from Manuel Felguerez, Vicente Rojo, Francisco Matto and the sculptures of Edgar Negret and Julio Le Parc; these are just some of the works in the exhibition, which aims to offer a landscape of the varied approaches to Latin American art.
The exhibit is divided in three core themes: Figuration, Transition, and Geometrism. The artists offer a tour of the prevailing trends of their times, wishing to show the citizens of the State of Hidalgo, on this occasion, a way to look at their own reality – not only their geographical reality, but also their ideological and mainly the aesthetic reality. “FEMSA Collection is glad to arrive in Pachuca for the first time while maintaining our purpose of boosting education through the promotion of culture and arts. With its program of itinerant exhibits, FEMSA shares its collection both domestically and internationally. We thank the Government of Hidalgo, and the State Council for Culture and Arts of Hidalgo, for their invaluable support in sharing with the public a portion of the great richness of art produced in Latin America by renowned artists,” said Rosa Maria Rodriguez, Manager of FEMSA’s Cultural Program.
Jose Vergara, Managing Director of Cecultah, stated that this new exhibit adds to other important exhibitions presented by El Cuartel del Arte, where both the citizens of Hidalgo and visitors from other states have had the chance of appreciating the world’s plastic diversity and some of the best Mexican pictorial expressions.
Vergara highlighted that thousands of people have visited El Cuartel del Arte – the most important art gallery in the state of Hidalgo – to appreciate its exhibitions, “one of the main features of this space is that it offers free admission to all visitors.”

FEMSA Collection is one of the most important private collections in Latin America; it currently has more than 1,200 works in different artistic expressions such as painting, sculpture, drawing, graphic, photography, video, and installation.
