Coca-Cola FEMSA gets over 6 million Mexicans moving

Mexico City, January 26, 2015. – Playing sports, a correct hydration, and promoting a balanced nutrition are the axes that conformed Coca-Cola FEMSA’s physical activation program for 2014. We were able to set more than 6 million people in motion with diverse sports events, thus surpassing our goal of supporting the activation of over 5 million Mexicans in that period.

Children, teenagers, and adults participated in 989 sporting events such as races, biking events, soccer, basketball, and baseball tournaments, as well as dancing, yoga, and fitness classes, among others, looking to improve their physical condition and foster the incorporation of this type of activities om their daily lifestyles.

“Coca-Cola FEMSA has focused on promoting changes in the habits of people so they can enjoy their lives in a healthier and more complete way. With these sporting events, we are activating millions of children, teenagers, parents, and grandparents while encouraging dynamic lifestyles. These actions help transform or reaffirm healthier habits in addition to strengthening the values of discipline and camaraderie through fun experiences,” said Armando Leyva Mondragon, Director of Corporate Affairs at Coca-Cola FEMSA Mexico.

These activities mainly look to raising the standards of the execution of physical exercise through the multiple programs that promote sports in order to fight sedentary lifestyles, as well as supporting events with hydration, which contribute to improve performance as the correct intake of liquid betters the operation of vital organs and prevents fatigue.

Every sporting event is a great opportunity to build a culture of hydration. Coca-Cola FEMSA offers a wide portfolio of products so that consumers can drink the ones that better fit their needs and lifestyles, this topic is of extreme importance since 60% of the human body is water.

Initiatives that provide activation
“Together for your wellbeing” is an example of the programs that we have developed; since its creation in 2009, this program has benefitted over 750,000 children, parents, and teachers through the installation of water fountains and health brigades as well as plays and talks with parents in reference to good nutrition, hydration, and exercise. In 2013 alone, more than 56 thousand children from 300 activations were benefitted with health brigades in 152 schools in the Mexican states of Chiapas, Estado de Mexico, Michoacan, Puebla, Veracruz, Morelos, and Mexico City.

During this year, we supported initiatives like the “FutCDMX Soccer Tournament,” organized by the Government of Mexico City as well as the event “Muevete en Grande” from the Government of the Estado de Mexico, the Mini World Cup Saludarte, and the Coca-Cola Cup, which is the most important interschool tournament in Mexico, among others.
