Always active in caring for and generating this vital liquid, Coca-Cola FEMSA Colombia, The Coca-Cola Company and the Latin American Water Funds Alliance, represented by Fundación FEMSA and The Nature Conservancy (TNC), signed an agreement for water management in Colombia, to strengthen the two Water Funds in Bogotá and Medellín.
Through the water funds sponsored by an alliance between Coca-Cola FEMSA Colombia, The Coca-Cola Company and the Latin American Water Funds Alliance, reforestation efforts were carried out and good farming and sustainable livestock practices were introduced in 1,350 hectares, equivalent to a some 1,250 soccer fields, which should replace a total of 1.8 million cubic meters of water for the region. These watersheds supply water to more than 11 million people in Bogotá and Medellín, and for Coca-Cola FEMSA and Fundación FEMSA, it is crucial to contribute to this collaborate effort in Colombia. The investment will total 2.07 billion pesos.
Since 2011, the Latin American Water Funds Alliance has developed 17 water funds, currently in the process of implementation.
