Opened on June 11 Coca-Cola FEMSA’s new plant in the municipality of Itabirito in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, is productive, sustainable, technologically innovative, energy-efficient and environmentally friendly.
The new plant involved an investment of more than US$258 million and has more environmental initiatives than any other plant in the Coca-Cola system.
The plant covers a surface area of 65,000 square meters and has six production lines that can bottle 2.1 billion liters of product a year. It will serve more than 1,750 municipalities, 328,000 points of sale and 72 million Brazilian consumers.
One of the plant’s initiatives is its “Happiness Factory,” where visitors can learn about Coca-Cola’s history production processes and environmental projects.
