Honorary Life Chairman
Eugenio Garza Lagüera served as Honorary Life Chairman of the Board. During his distinquished professional career, Mr. Garza Lagüera served as Chairman of the Board at Financiera de Crédito de Monterrey, Valores Industriales, S.A., Banca Serfín, and Bancomer, S.A. From 2001 to 2008 he was Honorary Chairman for Life of Monterrey TEC (ITESM) and of Bancomer, and served as Regional Board Member of the Bank of Mexico, a member of the Executive Committee of the Fund for Culture and the Arts, and a member of the Social Union of Mexican Businesspeople in Monterrey.
Mr. Garza Lagüera first joined FEMSA in 1946 as a member of Cuauhtémoc Brewery’s Research Department. He completed his undergraduate studies at Chaminade College in St. Louis, Missouri. In addition, he earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Texas and a master’s degree in business administration from ITESM.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Garza Lagüera received several honorary distinctions from Bishop´s University, The Conference Board, and the Bancomer Financial Group, as well as honors from the Monterrey and Mexico City sections of the National Chamber of Commerce (CANACO), PRONATURA, A.C., the Monterrey Rotary Club, Woodrow Wilson Center, among many others.
