1890 - Cervecería Cuauhtémoc is founded in Monterrey, Mexico, with 72 workers.
1893 - Carta Blanca beer receives The Gold Medal at the World's Fair in Chicago.
1905 - Bohemia, our premium beer brand, is launched.
1909 - The shareholders of Cervecería Cuauhtémoc, together with other local investors, create Vidriera Monterrey (today Vitro) to produce glass bottles.
1921 - Fábricas Monterrey is founded to produce crown caps and cans.
1923 - Carbonic gas is added to our kegs to add convenience and guarantee a more uniform liquid.
1926 - Wood cases are replaced by cardboard cases for our beer bottles.
1928 - Acquisition of Cervecería Central in México City.
1928 - Creation of our own malting facilities.
1929 - Cervecería Cuauhtémoc Director Luis G. Sada helps found the Mexican Confederation of Business Owners (COPARMEX).
1930 - Metal kegs replace wooden kegs.
1935 - Cervecería del Oeste is founded in Guadalajara, Jalisco.
1936 - The holding company Valores Industriales (VISA, today FEMSA) is created.
1943 - FEMSA creates Hojalata y Lamina (today Hylsamex ) to produce laminated steel for packaging due to inability to import it from the US during WWII.
1948 - Introduction of amber glass bottles.
1954 - VISA (today FEMSA) acquires Humaya (in Sinaloa) and Tecate (in Baja California).
1954 - Cervecería Nogales (Veracruz) is incorporated.
1957 - Grafo Regia (today part of the area of Strategic Procurement) is founded.
1960 - The 32-ounce returnable beer bottle (Caguama), the most popular packaging in Mexico to date, is launched.
1964 - Introduced easy-opening canned beer
1965 - VISA (today FEMSA) acquires Cervecería Cruz Blanca (in Chihuahua).
1967 - Introduced a non-returnable glass bottle (quitapon) with a twist crown cap that doesn’t require a bottle opener.
1969 - A brewing facility opens in Toluca (Estado de Mexico).
1977 - Introduced a simplified two part new aluminum can (body and lid only).
1978 - The first OXXO store opens in Monterrey.
1979 - FEMSA acquires its first Coca-Cola franchises in the Valley of Mexico and the southeast region of the country.
1985 - FEMSA acquires Cervecería Moctezuma.
1987 - FEMSA gets listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange.
1993 - The Coca-Cola franchise in Buenos Aires, Argentina, is acquired.
1993 - FEMSA becomes partners with The Coca-Cola Company.
1993 - Coca-Cola FEMSA gets listed on the NYSE and the Mexican Stock Exchange.
1994 - Labatt acquires 30% of FEMSA Cerveza.
1998 -   FEMSA gets listed on the NYSE (ticker: FMX)
2003 - FEMSA acquires Panamco, the largest Coca-Cola franchise in Latin America.
2004 - FEMSA buys back 30% of FEMSA Cerveza from Labatt.
2004 - FEMSA signs agreement with Coors Molson to distribute Coors Light in Mexico.
2005 - Heineken USA granted exclusive rights to market FEMSA's beer brands in the U.S. beginning in January 2005.
2005 - FEMSA executes a national sales, marketing, and distribution agreement with Sleeman Breweries, effective January 1st, 2006.
2005 - FEMSA settles a nuew sales, marketing, and distribution agreement with Molson Coors to serve the UK.
2005 - FEMSA Cerveza inaugurates the greatest malting facility in Mexico with a US$40 million dollar investment.
2005 - Coca-Cola FEMSA inaugurates a Mega-Distribution Facility in the industrial park "Puebla 2000" in the city of Puebla, with an investment of about US$6 million dollar in modern facilities.
2006 - FEMSA Cerveza acquires controlling stake in Brazilian Brewer Kaiser, by acquiring ownership of 68% of the equity of Kaiser. FEMSA now becomes the only brewer with meaningful operations in both Mexico and Brazil.
2007 - Coca-Cola FEMSA and The Coca-Cola Company acquire 100% of Jugos del Valle, who operates in Mexico and Brazil, holding second and first place in these markets.
2008 - During June 2008, Coca-Cola FEMSA together with the Coca Cola Company acquires the bottler Refrigerantes Minas Gerais (Remil). This step increases our presence in Brazil and the number of clients attended.
2010 - On april 30, 2010, FEMSA announced the closing of the transaction pursuant to which FEMSA agreed to exchange 100% of its beer operations for a 20% econocmic interest in the Heineken Group, through this transaction we will increase our scale and geographic reach competing effectively.
1906 - For the first time, FEMSA provides housing for its employees.
1906 - Cervecería Cuauhtémoc founds the Cuauhtémoc Polytechnic School to offer elementary, junior-high, and technical education to its employees.
1910 - For the first time, employees receive vouchers for medical services.
1918 - The Savings and Investment Cooperative, today Sociedad Cuauhtémoc y Famosa (SCyF), is founded to promote educational and economic development for employees and their families.
1919 - The first Christmas bonuses, equivalent to the balance of the employee's savings fund, are distributed to employees.
1921 - The internal magazine Trabajo y Ahorro is founded to promote the company's values and philosophy among its employees.
1924 - The first company baseball teams are formed and compete in formal tournaments.
1925 - SCyF offers medical services to employees at its own clinics and through house calls.
1937 - Cervecería Cuauhtémoc helps to found the Mexican Red Cross in Monterrey.
1937 - The first SCyF facility, is opened.
1943 - A group of businessmen headed by Eugenio Garza Sada, the director of Cervecería Cuauhtémoc, establish the Tecnológico de Monterrey.
1944 - SCyF opens its first recreational and social center in Monterrey.
1945 - The first medical clinic for employees of Cervecería Cuauhtémoc and their families opens its doors.
1957 - The Cuauhtémoc housing development, with 1,318 houses for company employees, opens in Monterrey.
1957 - The Centro Escolar Cuauhtémoc is established to provide education to the children of company employees in Monterrey.
1973 - The Mexican Baseball Hall of Fame is founded in Monterrey.
1977 - The Museo de Monterrey is founded; the FEMSA Art Collection acquires its first works.
1986 - OXXO establishes its Ecology Award.
1987 - Clínica Cuauhtémoc y Famosa's (CCyF's) new hospital opens in Monterrey.
1991 - Completion of the brewing facility in Navojoa.
1992 - The FEMSA Monterrey Biennial Art Competition starts.
1993 - FEMSA creates the Eugenio Garza Sada Award.
1993 - The Designated Driver Program is launched.
1998 - Clínica Cuauhtémoc y Famosa (CCyF) earns the Nuevo Leon Quality Award.
2001 - The Program for Workplace Integration of People with Different Abilities is formally established.
2002 - OXXO launches its Rounding-Up Program.
2002 - FEMSA is awarded as one of the "Best Companies to Work in Mexico" by the Great Place to Work Institute and the Mexican business magazine Expansion.
2004 - Three of FEMSA's breweries receive the Environmental Excellence Award, granted by Mexican Federal Government.
2004 - Clínica Cuauhtémoc y Famosa (CCyF) receives the National Quality Award granted by Mexican Ministry of Economy
2004 - FEMSA is awarded as "Best Employer of Latin America", by Hewitt Associates and América Economía magazine.
2004 - FEMSA is awarded as "Leader in Business and Social Responsibility" by the Hay Group, management and human resources consultant and the Latin American magazine Gestión
2004 - FEMSA is certified as an Inclusive Company by the Mexican Fderal Government
2005 - FEMSA is recognized as a Socially Responsible Company by Centro Mexicano para la Filantropía (CEMEFI).
2005 - "Excellence and Enterpreneur Ethics" awarded by the Mexican Chamber of Industry
2005 - FEMSA Cerveza starts its training program “El Mesero Responsible” (Responsible Waiter) looking to create conscience among waiters and barmen about the importance of moderate and responsible consumption of alcohol.
2006 - For the second time in a row, FEMSA is recognized as a Socially Responsible Company (ESR) by Centro Mexicano para la Filantropía (CEMEFI).
2006 - FEMSA is once again recognized as one of the “Best Companies to Work for in Mexico” by the Great Place to Work Institute and the Mexican business magazine Expansión.
